From the very outset New Holland was a group of individuals who were trying to push their individual and collective boundaries.
Started by Jon Mcaab (guitar) and Dave Walker (vocals) in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2005 drummer Matt Smith would join soon thereafter with Bryce Richardson filling bass duties as of the early fall of that year.
The initial goal of New Holland was to combine a varied pool of influences in a setting which was relatively alien to all involved and watch the results. With a collective love for riff heavy rock like Fugazi and Quicksand, and kung fu movies like Iron Monkey, New Holland coalesced into a constantly evolving challenge to the boundaries of rock music.
New Holland self-released an EP in the spring of 2006 called “Playing to Our Weaknesses” which sums up the entire goal of the band. Every time these four come together to play music they are trying to move outside of their respective comfort zones, to improve their weak points and not rest on their strengths as musicians. |
